The CNIL (French National Personal Data Protection Commission)’s definition of a cookie:

The BnF does not collect data about BDnF users directly through storing cookies.

The BnF receives anonymized data about traffic and usage that is collected from the App by Unity, which stores cookies on users’ workstations when they connect to the App. The cookies stored by Unity record users’ data for statistical and usage-study purposes, in accordance with their privacy policy (link above). Unity collects users’ personal data, including their IP address Users are entitled at all times to find out more or to refuse Unity’s data collection, by clicking on the cookies tab on the App’s home page and in the App’s drop-down menu.
